Angular Vs React Vs Vue

Introduction

When you start a new project, do you not feel tempted to pick any framework without learning and thoroughly analyzing that framework? Normal human tendency is to choose a framework in a rush, but you can run into problems if you discover that your selected framework is inappropriate for your project.

Angular

The Google-developed Angular framework was first released in 2010, which makes Angular the oldest of the bunch. The framework is based on TypeScript and JavaScript. This is a well-rounded framework with many built-in features, a one-of-a-kind framework.

The service has form validation, routing for state management using HTTP requests, and more. It is, therefore, often called a framework rather than a platform. When using Angular for web development, Angular Material assists you in creating a uniform, beautiful, and fully functional user interface. It also has special directives that make angular applications faster and more adaptable. A CLI (command line interface), and a PWA (Progressive web application) are available with the echo system.

Advantages

  1. Angular is an open-source framework. Since it's an open-source framework, one can easily change it to satisfy the customer's requirements.

  2. Angular is SPA (Single Page Application). Only a single HTML web page is loaded, and all the updation is done on that page.

  3. Google maintains it, which is a huge advantage for Angular because regular updation would be done.

  4. As we know, in the case of many frameworks programmer has to split the MVC (Model, View, Controller) components. The programmer has to code again to combine the MVC components; well, in Angular, this is done automatically.

  5. No prerequisites are required for Angular. Only HTML, CSS, and JS are required to work on Angular.

Disadvantages

  1. Angular JS has no authentication and authorization, so it is less secure.

  2. Angular is dependent on JS. If the scripts hide, the page would seem like a basic page.

  3. It is not supported everywhere. Internet Explorer 8.0 does not support Angular.

React

In 2013, Facebook released the first version of React, and since then, they have extensively used React in their products. The basic architecture of React extends to more than just rendering HTML in the browser.

Compared to Angular, react is more of a library than a framework. React is primarily concerned with state management and rendering that state to the DOM (Document Object Model); building React apps frequently involves the usage of different frameworks for routing and client-side functionality. This allows developers to use whatever libraries they want to complete tasks like network connectivity or local data storage.

Advantages

  1. Reusable components are the most popular feature of ReactJS. Each ReactJS component is reusable.

  2. ReactJS has the largest community and is also an open-source library.

  3. React is SEO friendly, and due to this fact, it is one of the best tools for creating an SEO-based web application.

  4. Easier to learn and understand because of the plenty of learning material. If you want to learn React, then you can consider this also.

  5. ReactJS has a very rich JavaScript library. Thus it provides more flexibility to the developers.

Disadvantages

  1. Since React is updating so fast, it isn't easy to maintain proper documentation.

  2. Many developers consider JSX a barrier because of its complexity in the learning curve. JSX is a javascript extension that React uses.

  3. The high pace of development is an issue since the updation in React is fast; therefore, many developers do not feel comfortable relearning new ways of doing the same thing regularly.

Vue

The youngest member of the group is Vue.js, also known as Vue. Vue is a web framework created by an ex-Google employee in a team of collaborators of Evan You, in 2014.

Its main features concentrate on what you'll need to write code. The community still manages some Vue features like form validation, so it's more a react version than an angular one. While it is less feature-rich than Angular, it has a robust CLI(Command Line Interface) interface for managing projects.

Advantages

  1. One of the best features of Vue is that it is lightweight. Since it is lightweight, the loading and installation of libraries are very fast.

  2. Like React, Vue also uses a virtual DOM (Document Object Model) to render a view. Virtual DOM provides a better user interface without rendering the real DOM.

  3. Vue uses HTML to render the objects and template system to facilitate its integration with the existing applications.

  4. One of the reasons for the popularity of Vue.js is that it is simple to use and easy to learn. Programmers who are well versed in the Javascript framework can easily understand this framework.

  5. The documentation of Vue.js is well-written and is updated regularly. Detailed documentation also helps programmers to learn and understand Vue.js easily.

Disadvantages

  1. Vue is a new framework that has become popular in a very short period, and that's why it is not supported by a very large community of active developers.

  2. Since the community of Vue is small, there is a problem with the scalability of Vue.js.

  3. Vue.js has very few plugins in comparison to Angular and React.

Now let us look at the difference between Angular, React, and Vue.

Syntax

Angular Syntax

The logic of your application, the state of your application, and the DOM data cause Angular templates to change HTML content based on the logic of Angular and the HTML syntax. If you use data binding, you can coordinate both application and DOM data, which will be used to transform data before displaying it, and the instructions for displaying data according to the application logic.

1. Write the main logic in a file named "app.components.ts, " a typescript file.

// default template
import { Component } from '@angular/core';

@Component({
  selector: 'app-root',
  templateUrl: './app.component.html',
  styleUrls: ['./app.component.css']
})

export class AppComponent {
  title = 'my-app';
}

2. Change the app.component.html in the app in the folder src.

<style>
// styling the toolbar
 .toolbar {
    position: absolute;
    top: 0;
    left: 0;
    right: 0;
    height: 100px;
    display: flex;
    align-items: center;
    background-color: #1976d2;
    color: white;
    font-weight: 600;
  }
</style>

// main div
<div class="toolbar" role="banner">

// adding the angular image
  <img
    width="100"
    height="100"
    alt="Angular Logo"
    src="https://repository-images.githubusercontent.com/24195339/87018c00-694b-11e9-8b5f-c34826306d36"
  />
  <span>Welcome Ninjas</span>
  <div class="spacer"></div>
</div>

React Syntax

An HTML template is converted into JavaScript from a *.rt file (a react template - an extended format). The tool returns a function written using the AMD syntax. A virtual React DOM is created through the combination of React.DOM elements and custom user components.

1. You can write this code in a file named App.js, which is present in the src folder of the main folder:

// default template
import logo from './logo.svg';
import './App.css';

function App() {

// rendering the app component
  return (
    <div className="App">
      <header className="App-header">

      // inserting the react logo image
        <img src={logo} className="App-logo" alt="logo" />
        <p>
          Welcome Ninjas!
        </p>
      </header>
    </div >
  );
}

export default App;

2. Change the App.css like this,

// modifying the css
.App-header .App-logo {
  height: 30vh;
 }
.App-header p {
  margin-left: 70px;
}
.App-header {
  background-color: #282c34;
  min-height: 100vh;
  font-size: calc(9px + 2vmin);
  color: white;
}
output image for react code

Vue Syntax

The rendered DOM elements in Vue.js are bound to the data underlying the Vue instance using HTML templates. In all Vue.js templates, valid HTML is contained. Any browser can parse from minor to major changes.

1. Edit the main App.vue like this:

<template>
// main div
  <div id="app">

  // inserting the logo of vue
    <img alt="Vue logo" src="./assets/logo.png" />
    <HelloWorld msg="Welcome Ninja" />
  </div>
</template>

<script>

// default layout
import HelloWorld from "./components/HelloWorld.vue";

export default {
  name: "App",
  components: {
    HelloWorld,
  },
};
</script>

<style>

// applying css to main app
#app {
  font-family: Avenir, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
  -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased;
  -moz-osx-font-smoothing: grayscale;
  color: #2c3e50;
  margin-left: 60px;
  margin-top: 60px;
}
</style>

2. Edit the HelloWorld.vue in the components folder like this.

<template>
  <div class="hello">

  // passing the msg "Welcome Ninja"
    <h1>{{ msg }}</h1>
  </div>
</template>

<script>
export default {
  name: "HelloWorld",
  props: {
    msg: String,
  },
};
</script>

Now run the server.

Which one to choose?

Which one to chose?

As we know, the family of the javascript framework is very large. Every framework has been built to solve different tasks. Still, the functionality of every framework can be extended by using third-party libraries, which requires a whole another level of expertise.

Angular, React, and Vue is the top Javascript frameworks for frontend development. They all can be used to solve complex tasks. However, each framework comes with its advantages and disadvantages.

Angular can be used to build applications that have complex structures. This framework impresses mobile users with its progressive web apps and hybrid mobile apps.

React can make dynamic websites flawlessly, and its sibling, React native, enables native mobile apps to be built using Javascript.

Vue combines the features of both Angular and React, and since it's new in the market, it is expanding at a very fast pace.

We can't predict which framework will maintain its popularity and relevance in the market, but each framework has a large community behind it, and it is constantly evolving.

Before jumping into a new framework, there are a few things one should consider:

  1. Firstly the team's experience plays an important role in choosing a framework.
  2. Now, a particular talent with expertise in the framework must be hired. This is also a considerable factor.
  3. The complexity and scope of the project is also important factor.

So now, after considering these points, we hope that you can make an informed decision.
