We often tend to hold on to our fears which prevent us from growing personally and professionally. While many of us ruin a lot of opportunities, there are a few more who conquers them. One such fearless alum is Shubh Gaur. In this success story, let’s get to know him better.

About Shubh Gaur

Shubh is a BTech graduate from the Manav Rachna Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad. Currently, he is placed at Dunzo Digital Pvt. Ltd as an SDET-1.

While pursuing Computer Science Engineering, Shubh took a specialisation in Cybersecurity and Forensics. He shares how curious he used to be about how hackers get into the system and wanted to know more about cyber security to help prevent such crimes.

Journey with Coding Ninjas

Back in 2020, when he took the course, it took him around a couple of months to complete it as it was a combined course. After completion, as he had a gap, he decided to look for internships. Without any second thought, he opted to work as a Teaching Assistant at Coding Ninjas.

According to him, working as a Teaching Assistant has been worthwhile. It helped him improve his concepts as he had to resolve the doubts of other students who took up the same course. He believes teaching always sharpens your skills.

While in his second year of college, he got to know about Coding Ninjas from his friends. It was then that he decided to take up the course. He says, “The course has worked wonders for me. It has helped me to be one step ahead of my batchmates. The course covered all the basic topics. It is designed in such a way that it will make you implement Data Structures and other concepts so that you feel confident about every topic. Overall my learning experience with Coding Ninjas was really good.”

Are the lessons learned at Coding Ninjas still helpful?

“Undoubtedly!  One of the biggest learnings in my Coding Ninjas journey is that no matter what the circumstances are, one should not give up. There was a time when I was stuck in a problem, and it took a few days to solve it. That is the main point here, to never give up. You might fail today, tomorrow, and the day after, but there will be a time when you will find the light at the end of the tunnel. That will be your day!”

What did you do differently to get placed at Dunzo digital?

“Till my sixth semester, I was proficient in Data Structures and Algorithms because of the course I took at Coding Ninjas. Thereafter, two months before the placements began, I started using Code Studio. It has a huge range of questions that are asked in interviews with top companies. I utilized the platform to get a hang of the question pattern and also learned about past interview experiences, which were pretty useful.”

What makes you unique?

“You know, I have seen people who stop learning once they enter the corporate world. The reasons might be time constraints or the lack of interest in learning further. Fortunately, I do not belong to that group of people. My attitude of constantly upscaling myself sets me apart from others. Even today, I manage to keep learning new things. Because in today’s competitive world, being up-to-date with advanced techniques is the need of the hour.”

What is your strategy to overcome professional challenges?

“To overcome a professional challenge, I believe time management plays a huge role. If you see around, most professionals have truckloads of tasks to complete in a given timeframe. In such scenarios, managing your time wisely can help you overcome certain challenges. Another thing that can help you is behavioural skills. Lastly, make sure you reach out to people whenever you feel stuck. This helps in building professional relationships, which can be beneficial for you in the long run.”

Career-building ideas for budding coders

“Most of the students, after entering college, think that the initial years are for exploring and having fun. I would suggest they start their coding journey as soon as possible. If not in the first year, but from the second year onwards, one should take up coding and brush up their skills. To add on, do internships and focus on building your resume.”

School of thought that you follow

“One of the ideologies that I believe in is that you should never be scared of fear. This four-letter word can ruin a lot of opportunities. The fear of not getting a job or the fear of getting rejected are some of the common thoughts which we deal with. I read a quote somewhere which meant if we see fear in something, it is easy to exist. Since then, I try to adapt this in my life as well.”

 Message for the Ninja Family

“I would like to thank Coding Ninjas for their wonderful guidance and learning experience. It is because of this organization I have reached where I am right now. If I had not taken the course, I would not have made it so far.”
