No matter how tough the situation is, bringing the best out of it, is something we learn from the members of our alumni community. The zeal and enthusiasm they carry are beyond appreciation. In this blog, we will get to know one such alumnus, who not only worked hard but also stood out from the crowd with his honesty and willpower. Let’s get to know more about him.
Siddharth Gautam is a BTech graduate from the Vellore Institute of Technology. Recently, he bagged an opportunity to work with Amadeus IT Group as Software Development Engineer – 1.
Back in 2020, during the pandemic, he stumbled upon one of the advertisements by Coding Ninjas on social media and found it to be exactly what he was looking for. That’s how his journey with Coding Ninjas began.
Siddharth watched the pre-recorded sessions, because of which he had the flexibility to go ahead at his own pace with the course. Though there were other sites, however, the major difference between them and Coding ninjas was that others had numerous questions of a similar type, wherein, the practice sets provided by Coding Ninjas had concept-oriented, quality questions. Some of them were directly asked in the interview which eventually led to him clearing the interview rounds.
His uniqueness in his own words
“I was aware and focused on what I had to do. So, I worked accordingly and I was consistent with my practice. Apart from that, it is very important to stand out from the crowd when you are competing with so many candidates. For that, I did my projects on my own and I was prepared for every question the interviewer would have asked me, which gave me the confidence to sit for it. Moreover, communication skill is one of the important skills which is highly evaluated.”
Lessons learned in Coding Ninjas
In Siddharth’s opinion, in his coding assessment, the subjects he picked up have helped him learn the basics of programming languages. Especially, how the algorithms are written and implemented. He says, “It’s not about a specific question, it’s a paradigm of questions. So, understanding data structure and algorithms is very important, which I learned from the course itself. Apart from that, it was hard work and perseverance which took its path.”
Things you did differently to get placed at Amadeus
“I was from VIT Bhopal. It’s a branch of VIT Vellore, so we had an integrated placement cell. We had to compete with the VIT Vellore, Chennai, and Bhopal as well. However, I felt one thing that I did do differently was to opt for the Data structures and Algorithms course. Because of this, I stood ahead of others in terms of exposure to these concepts along with interview-related questions and cracked the interview. You know, when you’re prepared with the concepts what happens is that you get time to give your attention to other aspects like projects and internships. Moreover, I can say that my choices and decisions set me apart”.
Career-building ideas for budding coders
“To someone who is opting for the course, I would suggest, they try making notes and watching the videos in detail. Also, as it is said ‘Practice makes a man perfect, you need to follow that. Coding ninjas have their practice platform which will help you practice thoroughly. Lastly, I would tell the budding coders to revise the old concepts which are again very important”.
School of thought that you follow
“With hard work and proper guidance, nothing is impossible to attain. Trust yourself and never fear the process of learning, hurdles are a part of the journey, and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel”
Message for Coding Ninjas
“I owe everything to Coding Ninjas. Honestly, the instructors and the TAs (Teaching assistants) have given me the best and most much-needed guidance. The course is designed in such a way that it is perfect for anyone who is starting their journey with coding. It prepares you well and makes you interview-ready for your placements. I had a wonderful experience with Coding Ninjas altogether.”
