Introduction

Today we are sharing the journey of coding Bootcamp alumni, Vikas Singh. He is a Computer Science alumnus of Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College and has completed his bachelor’s in the year 2020. Below is the journey of learning at Career Camp, India’s most loved online coding Bootcamp.

Coding Journey

Though he started coding in the year 2017 but only started taking it seriously in the year 2019. “At the time of my B. Tech admission, I was not familiar with coding or computers at all. I joined Coding Ninjas in January 2020 after I came across its 9-month long Career Camp program,” he said.

During the time of his second semester, he learned coding for the first time and eventually started learning various programming languages like C to solve basic coding, web development, PHP, and others to commence making his web projects. However, he informs that he lacked discipline and execution abilities while learning these languages.

“In January 2021, I got 2-3 on-campus offers. However, I was not confident about taking them up because my core concepts and portfolio weren’t very self satisfactory,” added Singh.

To begin with, he learned Data Structures followed by web development in which he covered both frontend and backend development. It was after learning these languages at Coding Ninjas that I confidently made 3-4 projects, started giving job interviews, and even got selected.

Later, I felt that I needed to create more high-quality and programming language-rich projects and that is when I came to know about the Career Camp Programme from one of my friends.

“I opted for Career Camp to understand coding and web development in a disciplined manner and grab better employment opportunities. Also, I liked the fact that it’s a zero upfront fee program that allows the students to get placed first and then pay,” he apprised.

Interview Experience at Dailyhunt

According to Singh, his interview at Dailyhunt comprised five rounds.

  • The first round was a coding assessment which consisted of two coding questions on trees and arrays each.
  • The second round was related to both coding and web development. In the coding round, the interviewer asked me questions about hash and tries; followed by questions related to NodeJS, how the front end works, ways to secure your data, execution of javascript, and I/O non-blocking.
  • The third round was related to coding and computers. In the coding round, I was asked to solve a question on Dynamic Programming and to run an online IDE under some given test cases. Further, I was questioned on topics like OS, DBMS, databases, difference b/w thread, and processes.
  • The fourth round was with the director of the company. It was a little bit technical, more about my thoughts about the company.
  • The fifth and final round was the HR round which was mostly related to my career vision, achievements, and my KRA at the company.
