Introduction

Today we are sharing the journey of Varun Sharma, a Computer Science Engineering alumni of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, a batch of 2018. Through this blog, he enlightens the readers about how he became a part of Career Camp by Coding Ninjas, India’s top coding Bootcamp for engineering aspirants and working professionals.

Coding Bootcamp Experience

How did you get interested in programming and development?

When I was in sixth standard our class was introduced to computers in school for the very first time. Until then I had no idea what it was and what it was used for. Computers used to be bulky with CRT monitors and a bunch of cables here and there.

We used to have one class of computers every week. And I used to stay excited about the class the whole week so that I could play games on it and draw and colour on the paint.

Then later my father brought the computer home in 2012 and that is when I started using the computer more extensively. I quickly learned to operate it and fix the everyday issues that I or any of my friends faced.

Soon after, I found myself exploring the technical aspects and technologies available on the web. I wasn’t familiar with engineering at all. But my curiosity brought me to an engineering college where I learned a few things about programming and software development. Participated in the local and national level project events during college, which helped me to have a great perspective.

How did you come across the Career Camp coding Bootcamp Programme?

For starters, I enrolled in the Java DSA course with Nidhi ma’am by Coding Ninjas right after my college final year exams. And soon after, I got my first tech job. It was then hard to continue the course alongside my job. While doing my job, I realized that there is still a lot to learn to be a good developer.

Soon after, I came across the Career Camp Programme through my mentors at Coding Ninjas who explained what this coding Bootcamp is all about.

What made you opt for Career Camp?

I was below average at coding. There were a lot of concepts that I was not much familiar with which I realised while working on the projects. But, I was lucky to have great team members at work. They used to constantly guide me and I learned a lot of things with them. But I wasn’t happy inside as I knew this isn’t going to do well in the long run.

I made up my mind, convinced my parents to quit my job to get into the Career Camp.

Any factor you liked about Career Camp?

The only factor about Career Camp which sums up all is to learn the concepts by practising them and if you get stuck, you have someone to reach out for, to get it resolved.

Tell us about your interview procedure in detail?

I was interviewed by multiple companies during the end of the course completion. I applied on various platforms including Coding Ninjas’ job portal. Finally, I got multiple offers after being rejected by many.

Most of the interview procedures were straightforward. The online test consisting 2-4 coding questions from patterns to data structures and 10-20 MCQ related to concepts or output related to Javascript. After that a couple of virtual technical interview rounds and a final HR round.

Any other projects you have worked on or are working upon?

I have started some projects but due to time constraints, they are waiting to be completed. You can have a look at my GitHub profile to stay updated on that.

Wrapping Up

How was your experience with Coding Ninjas?

I had a great learning experience. I learned a lot of things starting with Data Structures with Java then HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Ajax, NodeJS, and ReactJs. And I got multiple offers from service-based companies. Hence, I was able to get a satisfactory offer with a 200% hike from my previous job. I would say it’s great for someone from tier 3/4 college.
